So says Transport Secretary Andrew Adonis in an interesting piece in the Independent today. He reminds us that “the Liberals won their last election precisely a century ago….” No-one seriously expects there to be a majority Lib Dem Government on 7 May. In many marginal constituencies, including Pendle, a split centre-left vote will let the Conservatives in. No doubt about it. In fact, they are banking on it. Here is how it went at the last election:
The minor parties were nowhere. The Lib Dem, Afzal Anwar, is a very weak candidate who will find it very difficult to hang on to the 9,500 + votes his predecessor, Shazad Anwar, won in 2005. Ladbrokes have him on 40/1. The same as the BNP. I shall be writing more about Afzal Anwar over the coming days. Tags:
