In Pendle there are a thousand good reasons for voting Labour today. Here are some of them.

Two brand new secondary schools with major re-builds coming to the other four.

Primary schools re-equipped.

Funding for every school pupil has more than doubled since 1997 from £3,030 to £6,350, in real terms.

Sure Start programmes that make a real difference to young lives. New facilities. Wider horizons. A new Children’s Centre now open in Trawden.

A free nursery place for every three and four year old.

Health facilities such as Yarnspinners Wharf that wouldn’t have happened without Labour. And we are working to deliver a new Health Centre in Colne.

A new £30 million Women’s and New Born Centre opens at Burnley General in October.

There has been unprecedented investment in the NHS.

Waiting times have been slashed. The shortest waiting times since the NHS was founded.

7,500 Pendle families rely on Child Tax Credits.

6,700 Pendle children have Child Trust Fund accounts.

Here in Pendle, run down dilapidated housing, all of it in the private sector, is being transformed. £65 million spent by the Labour Government in Pendle alone.

The Minimum Wage. £5.93 an hour.

Winter fuel payments of £250 or £400 for the over 80s. Free eye test for the over 60s. Free TV licences for the over 75s. Free off-peak travel.

Pension credits.

Restoring the pension link with earnings in 2012.

Lancashire has never had more police officers. Nationally, Police numbers up by 17,000 since 1997.  There are more than 16,000 police community support officers.

Lots done. But lots more to do.

The Polling Stations are open from 7am to 10pm.
