Three British Pakistanis from Nelson, Lancashire were brutally murdered last week in Pakistan. In an alleged “honour killing” Mohammed Yousaf, his wife and young daughter were mercilessly gunned down in a cemetery, reportedly by four men wielding automatic weapons. Now the Lancashire Telegraph tells its readers that round-the-clock protection is being given to the family and relatives in Nelson “who fear further violence”. In the UK, the police would do this off their own bat, without waiting to be told what to do by a politician. And thank goodness. Over in Pakistan, we are told that an armed police escort will be accompanying family members who are out there. This information comes from North West Conservative MEP, Sajjad Karim, who tells the Telegraph that he has been in frequent contact with the police authorities in Pakistan. “I feared that there would be further security concerns for family members out in Pakistan, and I have arranged for proper security provisions for them.” He goes on: “They now have an armed police escort at all times, because nobody knows what will happen next.” I have blogged about “Saj” before. If his version of events is correct – that it took his intervention for visiting UK relatives to be given proper police protection - then things really are in a bad way out there. Much worse than even I thought. See the full story. Tags:
