The Conservative candidate for Pendle, Andrew Stephenson, is wheeling out the big guns in support.

Enter Sajjad Karim MEP, the former Lib Dem who defected to the Conservatives in 2007.  He switched sides just like changing his shirt.

He snubbed his former friends and wouldn’t even answer the door to Lord Tony Greaves, his former mentor, who drove into deepest Ribble Valley to seek an explanation.  The lights in the house went out as “Saj” hid himself away.

Karim reportedly sacked his constituency staff by text message.  Sounds true.

Now he pops up in the latest edition of Stephenson’s bi-monthly rag, “Pendle Matters”.

Readers are told that “Sajjad Karim MEP Promoted to Front Bench Team”.  He has taken up his new position as Conservative European Legal Affairs Spokesman.  Phew!

In June 2007, a few months before he jumped ship, he blogged:

“Whilst Cameron attempts to paint a glossy image of a gay-friendly party in the UK, he is also desperately trying to get into bed, at European level, with Poland’s openly homophobic ‘Law and Justice’ party. I just hope the British public see Chameleon Cameron for who he really is!”

Although Karim tried to scrub cyberspace clean of his anti Conservative blogs, they are still out there.  Ready to come back and bite him.  The Conservatives top legal man in Europe!
