Out with the old and in with the new. We are now getting our instructions from the Commons authorities. Letters and booklets explaining everything. The do’s and don’ts when the election is called. When Parliament is dissolved, the magic (or, these days, not so magic) letters after your name, “MP” must not be used. Never. Our Commons offices are locked and we are told to stay away. Those who lose the election are given a week or so to clear out their Commons offices. We are told that anything left there after that period of grace will be destroyed, without further notice. Zap! It is brutal. But it has to be. As I may soon experience myself, there is nothing so ex as an ex MP. Tags:
